Hello! I am in my fourteenth year at Weld RE-1 and my tenth year as Counseling Secretary at Valley High School. I love coming to work every day! I work with three exceptional counselors and a great staff, but the best part is being around the students. It is so exciting to watch them as they progress from freshmen to seniors. They are the best part of my job. I have three college-aged children who are all Valley grads. We are here to help your student with whatever they may need.
Megan Patterson, Counselor
Class of 2020 (Seniors) Class of 2023 (Freshman H-N)
Hi! My name is Megan Patterson and this is my third year at Valley. I work with the Senior class and Freshman with last names starting with H-N. I love Valley and the students I get to work with every day. Please stop by with questions or just to say hi!
Aside from being a counselor, I coach volleyball here at the school and am a club coach for ClubOne Volleyball. Before I started at Valley, I worked in a residential treatment facility for convicted youth while I was getting my master's in School Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. I completed my undergraduate degree at Gonzaga University in Washington. I also played a year of DII volleyball at a small school in North Carolina. I grew up just north of Seattle and attended a large, public high school there.
I love being active in any way possible whether that be playing volleyball or soccer, running, hiking or walking my dog! My husband and I love to camp, watch movies, hang out with our friends, be in the sun and travel!
Can't wait to meet you! Go Vikings!
Stephanie Cress, Counselor
Class of 2021 (Juniors) Class of 2023 (Freshman O-Z)
Hello, my name is Stephanie Cress. This is my fifth year at Valley High School, and my fifth year as a school counselor. I am truly excited for what the year is going to bring. I will be working with all Juniors and Freshman who have the last names O-Z. So, if you have any questions please stop by my office or the counseling office.
My life before my years as a Viking started out as a military kid who grew up in-between Germany and the United States, one main benefit of this being that I was able to learn German fluently and see quite a few places in Europe. For my years post high school, I've attend Highland Community College in Kansas for my Associate's in Arts with an emphases in Criminal Justice, Washburn University for my Bachelor's of Science in Criminal Justice, University of Northern Colorado for my Masters’ in School Counseling and Thomas M. Cooley Law School for my Juris Doctorate.
Outside of school, I'm an avid runner (half-marathons and marathons), a fan of the German men’s soccer team and a U.S. women’s soccer fan. I recently had my first child who was born in December, 2018. Last by not least, I'm a huge dog lover, my husband and I have 2, a Border Collie/Lab mix and a Weimereimer. Both of whom we adopted from shelters in the area. If I am not at work or running on country roads, you will find me taking hikes with my husband, hanging out with friends, and sometimes just lounging on my couch catching up on what is going on in the world.
Looking forward to a great 2019-2020 school year! Go Vikings!
Kate Pierce, Counselor
Class of 2022 (Sophomores) Class of 2023 (Freshman A-G)
Hi! My name is Kate Pierce and this will be my fourth year at Valley and as a school counselor! I graduated high school from a small mountain town in Colorado and then went on to Colorado State and the University of Northern Colorado. I have had multiple jobs between now and then that have all led me to school counseling and I'm thankful that I'm able to do something that I'm passionate about.
I am a Colorado native and my husband and I have lived in Milliken for the past 9 years with our two children and two silly boxer dogs. I enjoy spending time with my family, love watching movies, reading great books, hiking, gardening, and traveling anywhere and everywhere!
I enjoy being involved here at the High School and am also a Link Crew Coordinator, GSA Sponsor, and Girls Head Soccer Coach.
