Hello! I am in my thirteenth year at Weld RE-1 and my eighth year as Counseling Secretary at Valley High School. I love coming to work every day! I work with three exceptional counselors and a great staff, but the best part is being around the students. It is so exciting to watch them as they progress from freshmen to seniors. They are the best part of my job. I have three college-aged children who are all Valley grads. We are here to help your student with whatever they may need.
Hi! My name is Megan Patterson and this is my first year at Valley. I moved to Colorado in 2015 but grew up in a town north of Seattle where I attended a large public high school. After high school, I attended Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA. I played DII volleyball at a university in North Carolina my Sophomore year but ultimately transferred back to Gonzaga and graduated with a degree in Psychology. After college, I took a year off to work and travel abroad before starting my Masters' in School Counseling at the University of Northern Colorado.
I will also be coaching the JV volleyball team this year and coached the UNC Women's Club Volleyball team last season! While I’m not at Valley you can find me playing volleyball, watching a movie, trying a new restaurant or camping with my husband. I enjoy cooking and baking recipes from my family’s cookbook as well as trying new ones! I also love to travel and have been all around the United States, Mexico, Canada and Europe. I will be working with the Sophomore class as well as Freshman with the last names J-R. Please feel free to stop by if you have any questions or concerns!
Stephanie Cress, Counselor
Class of 2018 (Seniors) Class of 2021 (Freshman S-Z)
Hello, my name is Stephanie Cress. This is my third year at Valley High School, and my fourth year as a school counselor. I am truly excited for what the year is going to bring. I will be working with all Seniors and Freshman who have the last names S-Z. So, if you have any questions please stop by my office or the counseling office.
My life before my years as a Viking started out as a military kid who grew up in-between Germany and the United States, one main benefit of this being that I was able to learn German fluently and see quite a few places in Europe. For my years post high school, I've attend Highland Community College in Kansas for my Associate's in Arts with an emphases in Criminal Justice, Washburn University for my Bachelor's of Science in Criminal Justice, University of Northern Colorado for my Masters’ in School Counseling and Thomas M. Cooley Law School for my Juris Doctorate.
Outside of school, I'm an avid runner (half-marathons and marathons), a fan of the German men’s soccer team and a U.S. women’s soccer fan. Last by not least, I'm a huge dog lover, my husband and I have 2, a Border Collie/Lab mix and a Weimereimer. Both of whom we adopted from shelters in the area. If I am not at work or running on country roads, you will find me taking hikes with my husband, hanging out with friends, and sometimes just lounging on my couch catching up on what is going on in the world.
Looking forward to a great 2017-2018 school year! Go Vikings!
Kate Pierce, Counselor
Class of 2019 (Juniors) Class of 2021 (Freshman A-I)
Hi! My name is Kate Pierce and this will be my second year at Valley and as a school counselor! I graduated high school from a small mountain town in Colorado and then went on to Colorado State and the University of Northern Colorado. I have worked many jobs in between-ask me how many if you’re curious! I’m happy to finally be in a school counseling position that has been calling my name for a number of years!
I am a Colorado native and my husband and I have lived in Milliken for the past 6 years with our two young children and two silly boxer dogs. I enjoy spending time with my family, and I absolutely love watching movies, reading great books, and traveling anywhere and everywhere!
I’m really looking forward to getting to know the students and their families here in the community. Please stop by if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to get to know each other!
